In the past five to ten years, more and more churches are involving worship teams in the worship service. There are numerous benefits, both biblically and musically, to lead worship with a team. However, it also brings into light several critical issues such as rehearsal technique, how to involve adults and youths together in a team, working with professionally trained musicians and amateurs, and the art of musical arrangement for the team. These issues never pose any difficulties in the past but have now become deciding factors whether the worship team model could continue to flourish in a church setting.
Drawn from more than a decade of playing and teaching experience, this manual aims to provide a practical guide to building a worship team. The three objectives are firstly, to explain what a worship team is made up of; secondly, to elucidate the necessary techniques required building a team; and thirdly, how to resolve possible interpersonal conflicts within a team.
