余遠淳 小提琴 Dr. Yenn Chwen Er, violin Yenn Chwen Er, a native of Singapore based in Houston, Texas, continues to expand his music horizon in the areas of performing, teaching and composing. He is currently serving in his tenth year as the Director of New Heart Music Ministries, a non-profit Christian music organization. He has also performed with the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra in Columbus, Ohio from 1997-2007 as the Concertmaster. He is also adjunct lecturer with the Singapore Bible College starting July 2003. Educated in Singapore, London and Houston, Yenn Chwen began his professional career as a first violinist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and the Houston Ballet Orchestra. After several study with Sergiu Luca at Rice University, he was conferred Doctor of Musical Arts in May 1997. Being an extremely versatile musician, Yenn Chwen performs regularly on the modern violin and viola as well as the baroque violin and viola as a soloist and chamber musician. He has collaborated with international artists such as Sergiu Luca, Roel Dieltiens and Robert Spring. His performing career has brought him to many parts of the United States as well as Europe and Asia. Yenn Chwen studied composition under Lee Teck-Fa, Sarah Thomas and Samuel Jones. His uninterrupted interest in composition culminated in several local commissions from various groups and organizations for both instrumental and vocal medium in the following years including the Singapore Arts Festival (1992, 1994 and 2000), National Trade Union of Singapore (1993), Singapore Youth Orchestra (1994) and Ministry of Education (1996). These fruitful years culminated in 2002 when Yenn Chwen was selected as the Composer in Residence with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, during which the orchestra performed Féte for Strings and Brass in the Inauguration Concert at Esplanade Concert Hall and Symphonia Anamneseos. His most recent commission Shan Shui was performed and subsequently recorded by the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra in April 2005. 余遠淳,旅美新加坡音樂家。他同時在演奏、教學及創作三方面發揮所長。他是新心音樂事工的總幹事,曾在1997-2007年間擔任俄亥俄州 ProMusica 室內樂團的首席,自2003年迄今也擔任新加坡神學院的客卿講師。 遠淳先後在新加坡,倫敦及休士頓深造,曾先後在新加坡交響樂團及休士頓芭蕾樂團擔任第一小提琴。之後又到美國萊斯大學事師Sergiu Luca,在1997年五月取得音樂博士。 遠淳是一位才華横溢的音樂家,經常演奏小提琴,巴洛克小提琴与中提琴。他曾在美國,歐洲與亞洲與多位國際大師如 Sergiu Luca, Roel Dieltiens 及 Robert Spring 同台演出,舉行了多場個人演奏會及室內音樂會。 遠淳先後在李德華,Sarah Thomas 及 Samuel Jones 門下學習作曲,自此常受邀為不同器樂及合唱團體創作,包括新加坡藝術節 (1992,1994,2000) ,新加坡職總 (1993),新加坡青年樂團 (1994),與新加坡教育部 (1996)。在二零零二年,他被委任為新加坡交響樂團屆年的駐團作曲家。【歡慶】是遠淳特地為樂團在濱海演藝中心的首演而寫的曲子,同年又寫了大型作品【紀念交響曲】,演出十分成功。他於 2005 年為 ProMusica 室內樂團創作【山水】,並錄製成光碟。 |

鄭浩賢 男中音 Dr. Ephraim Cheng, baritone Pastor, Baritone. Born in Hong Kong, and educated in the United States, he received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Houston. He has accumulated over 10 years of teaching experience in various colleges and university in Houston. He is one of the founders of New Heart Music Ministries. In response to God’s call, he dedicated himself to full-time Christian ministry leading people to know and response to God through worship. He graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts degree in Biblical Studies. He served many years as the music minister of Fort Bend Community Church before he joined New Heart Music Ministries as a full-time music pastor in 2003. 牧師,聲樂家。香港出生長大,早年留美求學,於德州休士頓大學取得聲樂博士。新心音樂事工創辦人之一,曾在休士頓地區多間學府教授聲樂,擁有十多年的教學經驗。回應神的呼召,全時間投身事奉,並取得達拉斯神學院道學碩士學位,致力藉著敬拜帶領人認識和回應神。曾任休士頓福遍中國教會全職崇拜主任,在二零零三年加入新心音樂事工任音樂牧師至今。 |

吳長璐 琵琶 Ms. Changlu Wu, pipa Ms. Changlu Wu started her Pipa training at the age of 6, and entered the Shanghai Conservatory of Music at the age of 9, majoring in Pipa playing. Ms. Wu won numerous awards during her years of training in the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. She represented China in many diplomatic occasions and performed for foreign leaders. Upon earning a bachelor's degree in 1990, she came to the U.S. to study in Piano at the Moores School of Music, University of Houston. Changlu also played in Isaac Stern's film "From Mao to Mozart", the Oscar’s best document film in 1980. When she won the championship in the George Foreman International Musical Talent Showcase in1995, she became the first musician in Chinese music history to win the international music competition with a Chinese music instrument. Her performance was broadcast live by Houston Televisions and Radios. Changlu’s masterly skills and knowledge in the music of the West and East dazzle her audiences worldwide. Drawing from and expertly combining the best elements in each, she is also a goodwill ambassador for the benevolent mix of Western and Asian arts and culture. Her invited performances in Florida, Texas, New Mexico, Ohio and Okalahoma developed, rekindled and enhanced appreciation in Chinese music in a diverse group of Americans in many states. In 1998, her Pipa concert at the Moores Opera House at the University of Houston delighted her audience. In March of 2002, her invited performance at “Euro-China” in Vienna electrified international music lovers. Back in Houston, she was invited to play in the concert “East Meets West” with the Doctors’ Orchestra of Houston on November 16, 2002 at the Wortham Center. Her performance of the Pipa Concerto “Qilian Rhapsody” won much praises from the audience and the media. On November 6, 2003, she was invited by Former President George Bush to play at The Presidential Conference Center of the Bush Library at College Station for the event of the China-U.S. Relations Conference. Ms. Wu is an active and well-respected musician in the community. She bridges cultures with her music and artistry. She is generous of her time and talent, and gave a lot of performances in support of many community non-profits and worthy causes in the Greater Houston area. As a teacher, she instilled in her students the value of hard work and the spirit and joy of giving. They have performed in the Houston Asian American Festival for 15 consecutive years since her arrival in Houston in 1990. She also played in the Houston International Festival as well as Multi Culture Music Festival. As President of the Houston Chinese Orchestra from 1994 to 1996, she and members of the Houston Chinese Orchestra played in many gala events such as the Consular Ball in 1995, and the 1996 Multi-Arts Show to share the beauty of Chinese music and instruments. Changlu loves to teach children. She has been a member of the Houston Young Audiences since 1996. After graduation from Moore School of Music in University of Houston, she established her own music school, the Changlu Wu School of Music. In addition, she teaches Pipa, Zheng, and Piano at the Chinese Culture Center. 黃詩婷 小提琴 Dr. Shih-Ting Huang, violin Dr. Huang holds her Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Houston, Master of Music in Violin from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, and Bachelor of Music Education from Taipei Municipal University of Education. Led by Andrzej Grabiec, she won the concerto competition of Moores School of Music in 2001, the runner-up of the concerto competition of Texas Music Festival in 2002, and received the fellowship of Tomatz String Quartet during the last three years of her doctoral study. She is the concertmistress of the recently released DVD of P.D.Q. Bach in Houston, and currently performs with numerous ensembles in Houston. She has been a part-time violin instructor at the New Heart Christian School of Music since 2003. 黃詩婷為休士頓大學小提琴演奏博士,辛辛那提大學小提琴碩士,臺北市立教育大學音樂教育學士。在學期間受 Andrzej Grabiec 指導,獲休士頓大學協奏曲比賽第一名、德州音樂節協奏曲比賽第二名、及三年湯瑪茲弦樂四重奏提供之獎學金及演出機會。她在二零零六年 P.D.Q. 吳青芳 大提琴 Dr. Judy Ching Fang Wu, cello Dr. Wu received her DMA in Cello performance from the University of Texas at Austin. While at UT, she studied with a renowned cello professor, Phyllis Young, and taught as a Teaching Assistant in the String Department and String Project at UT. She has 10 years of private teaching experience and she was the Second Prize winner of the 2nd Annual WRR Chamber Music Competition in 2005. She has a lot of experiences in teaching and playing in various orchestras and chamber groups. She joined New Heart Music Ministries in 2006. 大提琴家,美國德州奧斯汀大學音樂博士。多年在台灣及美國學習大提琴演奏,曾師事 Professor Phyllis Young 並擔任其教學助理之職位。二零零五年WRR室內樂大賽獎項得主,有十年的教學及演奏經驗。二零零六年回應神的呼召,成為新心音樂事工第八位全職同工,主要負責教授大提琴課程、發展弦樂音樂營、及參與敬拜團隊的各項服事。 |

李維孝 小提琴 Mr. Jonathan Li, violin Jon Li was born in New York and raised in Houston. He began studying violin at the age of 7 and studied under Josephine McAndrew. His experience includes soloing with the Houston Civic Symphony, performing in the Houston Young Artist Concert, and participating in the Encore School for Strings. He earned all-region and all-state orchestra honors throughout high school, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Theory from the University of Texas at Austin. During his collegiate years, he performed in the UT Symphony Orchestra and studied violin under Dr. Eugene Gratovich. In 2001, he began teaching as a part-time violin instructor at the New Heart School of Music. In September of 2005, he joined New Heart Music Ministries as a full-time staff member. 趙珮 長笛 Ms. Pei Chao, flute Ms. Chao received her Bachelor Degree in Flute Performance from Kansas State University, was also awarded for excellent performer of the 1991 school year. With a scholarship provided by Chicago Music College, she entered CMC and received the Master Degree in Flute Performance. She also received her second Master Degree in Musicology from the University of North Texas. Ms Chao is one of the most active flute performers and teachers in southern part of the United States; she has performed with orchestras, chamber groups, and appeared as a soloist and judge in various concerts and competitions. She is also the flute instructor at the New Heart Christian School of Music. 獲得堪薩斯州立大學長笛演奏學士及最佳演奏獎。取得芝加哥音樂學院獎學金並完成長笛演奏碩士學位。之後前往北德州大學攻讀第二個碩士學位並取得音樂學碩士。為美南區最活躍之華人長笛演奏家及教師。多次參與交響樂團、室內樂及獨奏的演出,並在各項長笛比賽中擔任評審。目前擔任新心基督教音樂學院的長笛老師。 |

林玉佩 雙簧管 Ms. Yuh-Pey Lin, oboe Yuh-Pey is a candidate of DMA in oboe performance at the University of Washington. She earned her Bachelor of Music in oboe performance with distinction from Eastman School of Music and a Masters degree from Rice University. She has received full-tuition scholarships for going to these schools. She has studied with Richard Killmer, Robert Atherholt, Rebecca Henderson and John DeJarnatt. Yuh-Pey has won Ladies Musical Club solo competition in 2003 and toured through East Washington. She had an interview with George Shangrow and played live in “Live! By George” at classic KING-FM 98.1. She was also the first-prize winner in the Capital Area Youth Symphony Association’s Concerto competition in Olympia, Washington. Yuh-Pey currently freelances around the Seattle area and has performed with Northwest Chamber Orchestra, Tacoma Symphony, Bellevue Philharmonic, and Chamber Music San Juans. Her summer festival experience includes Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Banff, American Institution of Musical Studies, Round Top, and Sarasota. 林玉佩以優異的成積于美國著名的伊士曼音樂學院 (Eastman School of Music) 及萊斯大學分別取得雙簧管演奏學士和碩士學位。 在學期間,她事師 Richard Killmer, Robert Atherholt, Rebecca Henderson, 和John DeJarnatt,並獲得全頟獎學金。她目前是華盛頓大學的雙簧管演奏博士學位候選人。 玉佩曾在 2003 年 Ladies Musical Club 的獨奏比賽中得獎,並在華盛頓州東部巡迴演出。她因此在古典音樂電台節目 “Live!
